The Nebraska Humane Society Omaha is a no-suffering shelter that promotes responsible pet ownership, provides education, gives sanctuary to lost or abandoned animals, and facilitates pet adoptions.
The shelter was founded in 1875 and is the fifth oldest Humane Society in the country. It is a private, non-profit organization that is funded by private donations and run by a professional staff and a corps of volunteers. Every animal that comes to the shelter is cared for, given medical treatment, and if possible, adopted.
